biography

DJ Gary Quinns passion for DJ'ing is clearly evident from the 15 years experience he has gained within the industry. Gary has worked under various different pseudonyms during this time, including GQ, Qwin and Quin. He spent many years warming up for other DJ's in and around Belfast, Ireland and beyond. His smooth grooves and soulful beats where perfect to get any night going and this didn't go unnoticed. Soon he was regularly DJ'ing in Belfast venues like the Art College, Q-Club, Stiff Kitten, Apartment, Made in Belfast, The Garrick (wax, Digital Boogie), Mynt, Yello (No.6 in Mixmags UK'S top 10 clubs of 08), Kinetik, Fever, several underground late night parties and even some fashion shows! Gary also had the pleasure of playing at the Yellophonic festival in Belfast and the mighty Lush, at Kellys Portrush. Throughout all this Gary has built up a solid reputation and is well respected within the local music scene and further a field.

Gary talents have seen him travel around a fair bit, with DJ gigs in Amsterdam, London, Marbella (Where he has played a poolside set, at a luxury resort), New York and Ibiza, including a gig at the official after show party in Amsterdam, for the opening of Toni & Guy!

Gary's strength as a DJ is his ability to play for any crowd, mainly due to his wide knowledge and scope in music. He is extremely comfortable at playing sets of various different styles. From sunset beats and chilled vibes, through to jazz, funk, soul, classic disco right up to house, tech house and techno. Whatever the music policy Gary has always held his own alongside other DJ's and delivers nothing but quality every time. Gary sees himself as more of a music collector than a DJ and its this passion that drives him to spread the music he loves.

Gary Quinn has various DJ residencies around Belfast where he will play a distinctively different sound at each. He can be found playing at The Apartment, Belfast, either upstairs or down. His style here will vary depending on the night and which floor he is on. Upstairs will see Gary play a selection of deep soulful house while downstairs he will mix it up from Jazz right through to Indie music. Kinetik, Belfast is another residency, here Gary will play a slightly harder house sound, tech house and some techno. Gary can also be found providing the Space styled terrace beats for the Mynt BBQ's. At the weekend Gary is also the in store DJ for Clockwork Orange at the prestigious Victoria Square, Belfast.

One thing is for sure regardless of what style of music Gary will DJ, there will always be a big beat and a funky groove.
